Mercy Banquet ’13
The Mercy Banquet is a special evening to benefit the homeless and hurting. Since 1881, Jefferson Street Baptist Center has been caring physically and spiritually for the homeless of Louisville, KY. Every day, JSBC serves over 250 people with the vision to take people off the streets, transform their lives and return them to the world as contributing members of society. JSBC exists to extend gospel-centered mercy to the homeless and hurting. Thank you for visiting the JSBC website! My name is Phil Schultz and I am the new Executive Director. I hope and trust that you find our website inspirational and informative. In case you are busy I will give you a brief description of what we do at JSBC. We meet the spiritual and physical needs of individuals (primarily homeless) in the Greater Louisville, KY area. How? Jobs for Life
Jobs for Life is a Christ-centered curriculum dedicated to training and equipping residents to re-enter the workforce. The class focuses on practical job preparation and spiritual growth. Skills that are taught include improved communication abilities, greater computer competency, and resume construction. They also participate in career finding assessments, designed to pinpoint their particular interests and talents. After taking this class, residents will be able to find employment opportunities, be hired, and keep their new jobs. From Prison to Paradise: The Changed Life of Joey Wilson
Joey Wilson came to Jefferson Street Baptist Center after spending 10 years in prison for armed robbery. With nowhere to go, his parole officer stumbled across our website and Joey agreed to meet with us. Joey did not hide the fact that he was uninterested in all of our “religious talk”, but agreed that he did not want to return to the life he had been living before prison.
